Fostering Belonging: A Look Back at LearnUpon’s 2024 Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Journey
At LearnUpon, our Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) program is about more than just policies or initiatives—they’re at the core of who we are. Our goal is simple but powerful: to create a workplace where every single team member feels valued, supported, and like they truly belong.
In 2024, we put this belief into action with a range of learning experiences, celebrations, and moments that brought us closer as a team. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights.
Black History Month: Championing Allyship
In February, we dedicated the month to allyship and finding ways to better support the Black community both within LearnUpon and beyond.
We kicked things off with a global virtual learning session where our colleagues courageously shared their personal experiences. Their openness sparked important conversations and gave us practical tips for becoming better allies. To show our support in a tangible way, we also invested €1,000 in Black-owned businesses across four regions, helping to promote economic empowerment.
To make sure everyone had actionable tools, we completed a short but impactful micro-learning course, Becoming a Better Ally. It only took 15 minutes, but it left a lasting impression on how we approach allyship.
International Women’s Day: Celebrating Empowering Women
March was all about honoring the incredible women who inspire us every day. Following the global theme Inspire Inclusion, we hosted a heartfelt panel discussion where women from LearnUpon shared their personal journeys, including the challenges they’ve faced in the workplace.
Their stories were eye-opening and inspiring, encouraging us all to reflect and grow. Across our offices, we celebrated the achievements of our female colleagues, creating special moments to recognize their contributions and build connections.
Pride: The Importance of Inclusion
In June, we celebrated Pride Month by focusing on inclusion and understanding as key ways to support the LGBTQIA+ community.
We hosted a global virtual session where colleagues shared their experiences, shining a light on both the progress that’s been made and the challenges that still exist. To build on this, we completed a 15-minute micro-learning course covering topics like Gender Identity, Pronouns, and Allyship.
Our offices came alive with vibrant Pride celebrations, bringing people together to show their support and embrace the spirit of inclusivity.
Celebrating Neurodiversity: Building Awareness and Understanding
Finally, in November, we turned our focus to neurodiversity, celebrating the unique strengths and perspectives of the neurodivergent community.
Our team shared personal stories through a course, providing a powerful and personal lens into understanding neurodiversity. We also built a resource bank filled with books, articles, and websites to help everyone continue their learning journey. To wrap up the month, we held a fun and interactive quiz that tested our new knowledge in an engaging way.
A Proud Moment: Winning Bronze for Best Learning Program
All of the hard work and heart we put into fostering diversity, inclusion, and belonging paid off in an incredible way in 2024. LearnUpon won Bronze for Best Learning Program that Supports and Promotes Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at the Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards™.
This prestigious recognition celebrates excellence in Learning and Development, Talent Management, Human Resources, and more. For us, it was a moment of pride and validation. It showed that our efforts are making a real impact, not just within LearnUpon but also in the broader industry.
Winning this award reminded us why we’re so committed to this work. It’s about creating a culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and appreciated—and we couldn’t be prouder to continue this journey.
Looking Ahead to 2025
The first year of our DIB program has been filled with growth, connection, and learning. Thanks to the courage and vulnerability of our team, we’ve opened up conversations that matter and taken steps to become better allies.
We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to see how we can build on this foundation in the years to come. Together, we’ll keep striving to make LearnUpon a place where everyone belongs.
